If our hunting area was 100 sq miles, we would have 100 animals to play with. These animals are "home bodies", meaning that one animal will spend it's entire life living in a bout 1 sq mile (640 acres). I just read an article about Blacktail deer in Oregon. Having more maps that link to one another would be a better idea at expanding the regions (reserves). Performance wise, the current map size seems good to me. Players are already complaining it takes many hours to unlock something, I can't even imagine a cpu player walking 6 hours to get anywhere before the tears start to flow.
I think the IRL hunters would appreciate a big map, but computer gamers are nortoriously lazy and time restricted. I hunt IRL and will hike for 4-6 hours to get to a spot then camp out for a few days. While DLC reserves have stories of varying quality with 2-3 storylines (ecology, family, mistakes of the past, investigation, poachers, crimes), the Hirschfelden missions are simply sets of tasks from a group of people related to shooting certain game in a certain way and taking pictures. At the same time, what could be called a story campaign is completely absent. The reserve has 28 main missions (3 by Cornelia herself and then she transfers more from 5 other people, each gives 5 missions) and 70 additional ones.
